AT&T Mobile App

Exploring new ways to improve the

AT&T customer experience

I worked as a Senior UI Designer on AT&T’s consumer mobile app, focusing primarily on UI and visual design while also contributing to UX exploration, product concepts, prototyping, and design-system work. My work included data visualization and usage experiences, promotional content for Try AT&T, and concepts for future iterations of the app.

My role and the project challenge

As a Senior UI Designer, I designed new features, interface improvements, and promotional experiences within the established mobile app. The challenge was balancing the needs of each experience with AT&T’s existing visual language and design patterns, while creating UI that felt consistent across the app.

I collaborated with Product Managers, UX Leads, designers, and developers throughout the process. I explored visual and interaction approaches, created prototypes and high-fidelity UI, and refined designs based on feedback and collaboration with the team.

Making customer data easier to understand

One of my primary workstreams was exploring how AT&T could give customers a clearer, more useful view of their data usage. I worked with the Product Manager and UX Lead to explore both the visual design and interaction model for the experience. This included developing different approaches for representing usage data and exploring ways customers could filter and sort the information.

The experience brought together an overall view of plan usage, with more detailed views for internet and wireless usage. I explored different approaches for:

Overall plan usage with internet and wireless views

Filtering and sorting by date and bill cycle

Usage comparisons showing current usage against the previous period

Data visualization designed to make usage easy to understand at a glance

The designs needed to present multiple types of usage data while giving customers an

easy way to filter and compare activity across different time periods.

Explorations included multiple approaches to visualizing and organizing usage data.

The final direction made it easier to explore and compare different types of usage.

Introducing customers to Try AT&T

I contributed UI and visual design to Try AT&T, an initiative that allowed customers to experience the AT&T network through a 30-day trial using a virtual SIM.

My work focused on UI and visual design for promotional content and branded mobile experiences supporting the Try AT&T initiative. I explored different layouts and visual treatments while working within AT&T’s established app and visual language.

The work balanced promotional messaging with the established AT&T

experience while exploring new layouts and visual treatments.

Designing within an established system

Working on AT&T’s consumer app meant designing within a large, established brand and product ecosystem. Over the course of the engagement, I became very familiar with AT&T’s brand guidelines, mobile design library, component patterns, image library, and established design practices.

This familiarity allowed me to work efficiently within the existing system while still bringing new ideas into the product. My work regularly involved:

Applying AT&T’s visual language and brand standards to new experiences

Working with established components, patterns, and the mobile design system

Using AT&T’s internal image and visual asset library

Exploring visual directions in collaboration with UX, product, and engineering teams

UI design work outcome

The work helped bring new experiences into the AT&T app while maintaining consistency with the broader product. Collaboration across UX, product, and engineering helped refine ideas and strengthen visual and interaction patterns throughout the design process.

The concept and exploration work also opened up new directions for how information and future experiences could be presented within the app.
